The End of a Chapter

I cannot believe that I'm saying this right now, but I just had my last day of classes today! I have no finals so in reality, I am pretty much free from school and any classes for the rest of the summer!! It's such a strange feeling. I honestly feel like I have school tomorrow or that next week I will be back in school. Senior year definitely went by way too fast! People weren't joking when they told me that! While I was going through the year, it didn't feel fast at all (especially those sleepless nights in the fall!!). However as we got closer and closer to the end, it began to go by fast.. too fast! Now that I look back, my whole year feels like it went by in the blink of an eye! If I could, I would go back and relive my senior year- the good and the bad!

Jostens Graduation Gown

Graduation Gown 2014

Graduation Gown red

Yesterday, I got my official cap and gown! It's red and I cannot wait to wear it! It fits pretty well.. (lol, it's a loose piece of fabric so why wouldn't it fit haha) I can't believe it's mine! I'm not sure if I want to decorate my cap at the moment since I don't have any ideas... I have been looking for graduation dresses though. Typically girls wear white dresses and I was thinking of going that route, but it seems that my graduation gown is thick enough to wear a dark dress. I was considering a black or gold dress possibly with a baroque pattern? I just need to find one!

Award/Scholarship Night

You might remember in a recent post, I mentioned something about an awards/scholarship night. Well the night happened and it turns out, I didn't get a single award. However, I did get quite a few scholarships which made up for the no awards part haha! (I'll be honest and say that scholarships are a tiny bit more important to me than awards!) Without going into too much details, I was able to get two $1000 scholarship along with a $500 and a $300!! Whoo.. all my extra essays paid off! I was so excited to hear my name called since this is quite important!!

Frozen Yogurt frogeez

After the award show ended around 8:15, we picked up some refreshments and headed out to pick up a few items. Last week was super tiring since I had appointments back to back along with nights at school and things to pick up. It was enjoyable, but exhausting! We got some snacks for the home as well as gifts for a few of my favorite teachers! While out, we stopped for some dinner which was froyo! I know it's not the healthiest, but ohh well!

Job Interview Outfit
Due to my daily 5-6 hr of sleep, my eyes look incredibly tired.. I will catch up on my sleep next week!!!
Something exciting also happened last week. I went in for my first job interview! I was looking for a summer job before college and it came down to me having two options for jobs. The 1st option was to be a cashier at a local grocery store which seemed like a decent job. The 2nd option was a door to door sales person for my city.
Obviously being a cashier seems like the easier job. I get air conditioning and I don't have to work as hard. However, something about being a sales person seemed to reel me in. Even though I complain everyday about the heat and sweat, I love being outside! The thought of being stuck inside all day in the summer feels like torture to me. Plus I love exercise and I know that having to walk door to door for 3-4 hours a day will surely provide me with plenty of physical activity! (Hello toned legs!)
In the end, I chose to go to the interview for the door to door sales person position. This was my first interview so I basically went in completely clueless of how to act! I just acted like myself and in the end, I found out that I was hired!!!

A tortoise that I saw along my way to my interview!
I have my official graduation in a week and a half and I feel so excited, but sad. I have spent the last 4 years here and it's such a weird feeling knowing that I won't be back there in the fall. I never thought that this time would actually ever come. For some reason, I feel like I would always be a kid forever, but I guess that isn't the case!
I literally start my job tomorrow and it goes from 12-8 pm every day. I'm super excited to see how it works out!! I'll keep you guys updated and the prom post will go up this weekend I promise! =)

Do you still remember your senior year?
What was your first "real" job?
Ideas for my graduation cap or should I just leave it plain? =)

  9. Aw, this post really made me feel sentimental. It reminded me of MY senior year and I felt all the same things you did.... As the end approached, time went by SO incredibly fast and I remember just feeling so thrown off that suddenly we were graduating.

A new chapter is about to start, though. I'm excited for you! <3

  16. Awww congratulations on your scholarships and your summer job :) It totally sucks being stuck indoors all day, hence why I quit university and became a makeup artist! I never have the same day twice and I love my job, win-win situation! :)

I agree , being inside in front of a computer all day seems soo boring to me! wow, your brave for doing that ! I would love to be able to do what you do, but it's too risky for me right now! (maybe I will later!)

  18. Congratulations on your scholarships!!! :)
I unfortunately still do remember some parts of my senior year, though I try to forget my high school years.
But I remember my first job well, it was great with lots of money, which I wasn't able to spend for some time. Working 6 days a week, 15 hours a day...

Your cap... hmm... maybe leave it plain? -I think that would look a bit more mature than any kind of decor!?

ohh my gosh, your first job was intense! That must have made you a lot of money to spend! (lucky you!!)
I'm strongly considering leaving it plain mainly because I'm running out of time and I have no idea on what to do hehe. I like the way it looks now actually so.. we will see!

  19. CONGRATULATIONS! Best wishes to you and your future. I never saw anyone in high school decorate the cap, but in college, people went all out during graduations.

  20. Congrats, Mindy! :) I had my commencement night with the cap and gown and I never knew there'd be an idea of decorating it, haha! But then again, we only get the hat when we head to the ceremony instead of receiving it ahead of time.. I honestly can't believe how fast time flies too.. congrats on getting your job too!:) it sounds fun~ my first job was a piano teacher back in junior high and it's a really great job that I'm still doing now! Have a great week~ X
