Senior Events

There is still so much going on with my senior year and I love it all! We have quite a few "award nights" at our school (which I still question why our school doesn't shove all the award nights into one night lol.. oh well), but the last one is this Thursday for scholarships and awards. Whoo.. I was invited to it so I'm hoping I get a scholarship! I mean awards are important, but scholarships are even more important to me!
Last week, I had an award night for our honor cords!

Honor Cords Senior Year

Honor Cords Senior Year

Honor cords are something we can wear at our graduation and we have to earn them through our 4 years. I'm not sure on the exact details, but I think you need 3 or 4 years of a subject area and you have to receive an A in them. I didn't expect to get much since in my junior year (also the most important year...), my grades took more or less a nose dive.

Honor Cords Senior Year

Despite that though, I did manage to get an honor cord in 2 subject areas. I also go a cord for passing our state test and an honor cord for passing the state fitness exam at the challenge level! (I am very proud of that one!) Fun fact, each of these cords cost our school $10 each!! Can you believe that?? They are slightly overpriced in my opinion haha.

Canoeing And Kayaking

On Monday, I also had another senior event. It was our senior trip and we went to a fun park for it. It's hard to describe what exactly the park would be, but it had many events for us including a rock climbing wall, an obstacle course, and canoeing. It actually resembled a summer camp type place in my opinion.
I actually did both the rock climbing and canoeing. I wasn't necessary the best at either, but it was a lot of fun!! Luckily I had a friend with me in the boat during canoeing and she was an expert so she basically told me what to do. Let me tell you.. canoeing = a huge arm workout!! For the rock climbing, I tried very hard, and eventually was able to make it up 1/2 the wall! I think I may have developed a fear of heights sometime in the past year...

Like the pink wig?? It was for the photobooth!
Cotton Candy

Dragonfly Airbrush Tattoo
Hehe, I'm flexing! I'm normally not this fit!
The weather for the day that we went could not be better! It was sunny and hot, but not to the point where we were cooking under the sun! They even provided us with yummy food and a photobooth (that explains the pink wig!) which made things so much better!! Another thing that they offered to us at the park were airbrushed tattoos! As soon as I saw those, I had to get myself one! I chose to get a little dragonfly on my tummy hehe. It was painless and I love the way it looks. It's still on me today and it looks almost brand new! It's crazy how long it stays.. though I will have to scrub it away for prom possibly!

My last item here relates directly to prom and it is quite important! It is my clutch that I will using for prom! I wanted to keep the gold theme up so I spent so much time online typing in the words "gold, sparkly clutch." I also went to a few stores looking for a gold clutch, but there weren't a lot to pick from. A lot of the clutches were silver which did not match everything else. Eventually I settled on going back to promgirl and I saw this little clutch called the "millie gold." It was what I wanted so I ordered it!
I'm going to have to say, Promgirl's shipping is unbeatable!! For one it's always free and second, it's so fast! I ordered late Sunday night and my clutch came to me by Tuesday afternoon! Crazy right!?  My only complient with this bag is that the sparkles tend to shed which isn't what I wished for, but it's not that big of a deal since everything else is perfect!

Have you ever been canoeing or kayaking before?
Did your school have honor cords for graduation?
Any makeup, hair, accessory tips for me on prom day? =) I've decided to go more natural with makeup and skip foundation (since I never wear it anyways). I'll probably just use moisturizer!

  4. Congrats on getting those honor cords! As for prom, I like your decision to go more natural with the makeup. For the hair, maybe you could try putting your hair up in a loose bun but still keeping some wavy strands falling freely in the front? It's like a mix of sophisticated but still carefree. <3

    1. It was a fun time and ohh kayaking and canoeing are like being on boats in the river and you have to paddle yourself. (it's like rowing in a sense)

  13. Honour Cords? That's cool, we don't have something like that. -Congrats! :)
And I guess, I am not the only one telling you, how awesome your Clutch looks.

Use no make up, it will only clog your pores & make you look ugly. ;) And don't wash your hair on Prom Day, wash it the day before, that way whatever style you do, it will last longer AND better. :D Have fun!!!

  15. Unfortunately we didn't have honour cords at my school but I like the idea. Yes, I've been canoeing twice. The first time the boat skipped over and I fell into the water. The second time I spent like two hours on a river as part of a team event. I was exhausted afterwards!

ohh the boat tipping was the thing that scared me the most. I'm glad you got it the 2nd time though and I agree, it is super tiring especially on the arms!

  18. Ahh i love this post (and that little white dress is just so stunning!)
And YES I've been canoeing and kayaking before (we actually has kayaks when we were younger!) and I miss it terribly now that I've seen this post! :)
As for makeup tips for prom, I would say that even if you're planning on skipping foundation, you might want to bring some blotting sheets/loose powder with you because after all the dancing and jumping, it might just come in handy! ;)
