Snow Day! (Mini weekly recap!)

I honestly feel like I have every Wednesday off from school hehe! I'm not complaining though because who could complain about an extra day off for school?! ( I might regret saying this once it's summer but oh well!) We got the call last night about school being cancelled which meant I could sleep in today. Usually our school calls us in the morning which ends up waking me up! To be honest, I don't think we got as much as snow as predicted, but it is still icy outside. We have another storm heading towards us this Sunday night so I'm curious to see how that will turn out! I'm kinda wishing for one big storm like Nemo last year!
With my time home, I was able to work on a few essays and get some things organized! Today I want to share with you guys some things that I have gotten/occurred in the past few days!

maybelline elixir review

maybelline elixir dashing orchid review

I saw these adorable lip glosses on a display one day and I was intrigued to see what they were all about. Let me tell you how much of a struggle it was for me to open it to test out the color. I kept thinking that these were lipsticks and my initial thought was to pull the product cap off to use it. I probably embarrassed myself quite badly at the store because I could not figure out why the caps wouldn't come off! After my long struggle, something must have clicked inside my head because I decided to twist the cap and voila, it opened. What came out was a shock. This was not a lipstick, but rather a lip gloss!!! The design for this is genius!!! I really love it and because of it, I had to pick some up. I got the colors dashing orchid, blush essence, and fuchsia flourish. So far I have only used dashing orchid and blush essence and I really love the way it looks! It's not long lasting, but it so moisturizing and that is a huge selling point for me!

Physicians Formula Super CC Review

The next items that I've recently gotten is this cc cream from physicians formula. It is for my sister, but I can't lie and say that I'm not interested in it. I don't wear full face makeup often, but lately I've been doing some research on BB and CC creams. It seems that just this past year, the popularity of these creams have exploded in the US and now every major makeup has at least one BB or CC cream. I haven't been that fond of the creams here though since I feel that a lot of them are just foundations with added ingredients. I'm a bit interested though to try some of the Asian BB or CC creams that have actual ingredients that help your skin. I want something that it like a continuation of my skincare products with a bit of makeup to it! I have been watching a lot of youtube reviews of bb creams and I have a long list of products that I want to try. I just have to narrow it down now! (I'll update you on my choices once I make it!)

nivea a kiss of olive oil and lemon review

haagen daz green tea review

You might be wondering why I paired the next two items together .. hehe. Ice cream and chapstick? Well for starters, they are both green! hehe. The chapstick is from Nivea and it's flavor is called oilve oil and lemon. I have to say that the scent of this chapstick is very unique. It's a very strong herby scent and I personally do not feel that it has any resemblance of either olive oil or lemon. (what does olive oil even smell like? =)  I do love the chapstick though because the scent of it is something that I really love. The scent actually resembles green to me... in fact the scent is exactly the same as the taste of the Haagen-Dazs green tea flavored ice cream! When I first smelt the chapstick I thought of the ice cream I had just had a few days ago! On a side note here, the green tea ice cream from Haagen-Dazs is also delicious!!

Vanishing Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Recipe

Russell Stover Chocolate Review

Now that we have moved from makeup to food, I'll show you some delicious treats I've had recently!  A while back, I decided to try baking for the first time in forever! I chose to make some oatmeal cookies with the recipe I found on the inside of the oatmeal container =) Let's say that I'm not much of a cook or baker.. my cookies turned out edible, but very hard and oatmeally... I think I put in too much oatmeal hehe!
Another treat I had this week are these chocolate! They are from Russell Stover and I love them! I consider them my Valentines gift to myself =)

College Acceptance Letter 2014-15

Last but not least, I have more acceptance letters from Hofstra and URI!!! It's pretty exciting, but at the same time, I'm still waiting for some of my higher/reach colleges to get back to me. I hope I don't see a rejection letter since that will hurt a bit! I'm not really considering URI, but Hofstra is one of my top choices so I'm glad that I got in with a scholarship!! I'm just thinking it would probably be a good idea to visit these colleges soon. I'm thinking in March after I turn 18 so I can go by myself! It's much easier that way!

Have you tried the Maybelline Elixir's before?
What treats have you been baking/cooking recently?
Do you have any recommendations for Asian BB or CC creams that actually help your face/skin? =)

  1. Hi Mindy happy to hear that you continue getting acceptance letter better to have a few line up to make a choice. I had not try maybelline yet as of bb and cc cream I like Garnier and loreal but I also found two more I'm testing to post about it see if its worth it. Enjoy your day off.

  3. Oooh what pretty lip gloss colors! I likeeeee! As for the BB creams, I've had my share of U.S. branded BB creams and Asian BB and CC creams and there is definitely a big difference in terms of what they use for their products. My favorite Asian BB Cream brand would have to be Missha. I have been using it for almost a year now and my skin has actually started glowing even on days when I am not using the BB cream. Most asian BB cream products have major skin care ingredients so it is healthy to use everyday, it saves you from having to go to the dermatologist to get great skin. But you have to be careful with which Asian BB creams you purchase because a lot of Asian BB creams have whitening ingredients in them so if you use it everyday you face gets lighter and lighter and one days where you don't use them you would definitely notice that your face is whiter than your neck. I have tried another asian BB cream brand, Etude. I super love the packaging but that is as far as it goes for me. Etude has a whitening ingredient which I found out about based on first hand experience. I felt a burning sensation on my face, so I went home after 3 hours of using it, washed my face and my face was red, it looked burnt. So, I read the label and well...there it was, it says that it could also be used as a whitening cream. boohooo.

    1. Wow, thank you so much for this comment!! I am happy to hear your opinion on this as I am such a newbie with bb creams!!
The lip glosses are really cute and yes the color selection is so nice! hehe
ohh I am looking into missha right now! I have a few on my list, but I don't think I looked into Missha. Your so lucky to have glowing skin! That is exactly what I am looking for in a BB cream!

and that experience with the etude product sounds scary. It is true that their packaging is adorable, but the fact that it burnt your face is scary! I'm not looking for any whitening (since I do enjoy being a bit tan in the summer) so I will make sure to look at the ingredients carefully! Thank you so much for this information!!! =)

  33. Hey pretty girl!! :)

As you know, I'm in Chicago and we've been getting snow dumped on us on a daily basis. Lol. We've gotten well over a foot in the past couple days. Last winter was soooo mild compared to this winter. I hate the snow, not to mention some days have been well below -20° with the windchill. No wonder my whole family (myself included) is sick!! Anyway stay warm girly!! Congrats on being accepted to those universities!! That's amazing, you definitely have the upper hand because you get a choice as to where you want to go. Hard work pays off && you've obviously been working very hard!! :) I made some homemade blueberry muffins the other day and I've been cooking a lot lately too. I made some amazing (if I do say so myself LOL) seasoned chicken && rice the other night for dinner. I actually saw those lip glosses last night while I was at Walmart. The colors are so pretty. I might pick one up to try it soon, especially because you said they're so moisturizing. Anything moisturizing is perfect for me, I'm obsessed with having soft skin and lips. Lol. Hope you had a great weekend, I'll talk to you soon!!

That is a crazy amount of snow!! I can't imagine having to walk through it and yes, last year was terrible especially with the huge Nemo Storm.
yes, more choices are better than one and those blueberry muffins sound delicious!! I kinda want some muffins now lol!
I do find the glosses to be very moisturizing (perfect for winter!) so I would recommend you try one out! Soft skin is a must for me!
