Jollychic Winner + Mohegan Sun

I'm back!!! I hope everyone had a very nice holiday and a Happy New Years. It's officially 2014 now!
It's crazy to believe, but I actually missed blogging a bit while I was on vacation! (I had so much fun!!) I think the whole writing my thoughts down somewhere really helps me stay sane hehe. With that being said though, I have come back to blogging with more energy than ever to blog and I'm proud to say that I am no longer in a rut when it comes to ideas! I have lots of post (too be honest, I have a lot of post I want/need to do) that I want to write and so much to say from my vacation recap, gifts haul, shopping haul, brush reviews, and my Mindy Top. I'm not sure if I have enough time to write it all hehe.

First and foremost though, I want to address my giveaways! For my Sammydress giveaway , unfortunately the original winner never responded to my email, so I had to pick a new winner. Congrats to Tela Lalas!
For my Jollychic giveaway that I started right before my vacation, the winner is #70 from Danielle . Congratulations! I have already contacted both winners so if you are a winner, please make sure to check your email and get back to me within 10 days! =)

Originally, I was going to do either a vacation recap or a "What I got for Christmas" type post, but I have been severally disorganized upon returning, so I will be writing about a trip I took to Mohegan Sun instead and save the other post for next time! I'm still suffering from post vacation blues right now and it's so hard to believe that I was in NY less than a week ago. Vacation was so much fun, but at the same time, it felt like it was a dream.
Last December, right before Christmas, my mom took my sister and I on a little trip to check out Mohegan Sun. It's a casino semi close to us and according to her, it is always spectacularly decorated for the holidays! She was correct!

Since we each can be very busy, it's hard for us to have trips like this as a family so I am always really happy when we can go out! It's a lot of fun to just head out as a family and I even got to test my new camera out on this trip. The photos that came out are very nice, though carrying the bulky camera around was a pain still. Thankfully, my little sister loves taking pictures and didn't mind carrying my camera for me! =)  It's my last year with my family before heading to college. I've been thinking about it and I would really like to get out of Connecticut for college. I feel like moving away will help me grow up a bit more and see other places.

Mohegan Sun during the holidays

Mohegan Sun Hotel

We didn't really have any exact plans when it came to what we wanted to do at the casino except to walk around, check out the stores, and grab a bite to eat! Personally, I really enjoyed looking at all the decorations they had up at the casino. Everything looked like it was perfectly coordinated together and being there during the holidays was a bonus. There were Christmas trees up and sculptures of Christmas items everywhere. Even the shops took advantage of the holidays by decorating their stores up. It was quite a site to see.
Mohegan Sun Gingerbread House
A Real Lifesize Gingerbread House!
Mohegan Sun waterfall
This sculpture was just jaw dropping to see!
I was trying to pick my favorite site from the casino, but I just could not pick between two things. The first was something there only for the holidays. It's the life-size gingerbread house! At first, I wasn't sure if the house was real or not, but as I got closer, I realized that the materials used to make the house seemed pretty real. It was actual crackers and icing and I just couldn't believe how long it must have taken people to build it. While going through the photos we had taken on this trip, I realized that one of the photos snapped by my sister of the gingerbread house actually got a photo of another person snapping a photo on the other side. It was pretty cool. (The picture is on the lower left side of my gingerbread house pics.)
The other sight I loved seeing was the sculpture near the waterfall. I have no idea what it is suppose to be called, but it resembled a giant coral reef to me. It's located in the middle of all the shops and basically goes from the floor to the ceiling. The sculpture changes color from purple to green and it was just pretty awesome to see up close!

Sephora Mohegan Sun

While checking out all the shops, my sister and I had our eyes on two stores. I personally wanted to check out Sephora while my sister wished to see lush. There are so many amazing cosmetics at sephora and I just love roaming around the store hehe. I love how they have samples of all their items and I personally fell in love with this blush that had coconut water in it. I tested it and it felt cool and refreshing on my face.
I even got to get my skin tested there to see what type of skin I had. They had a device that would magnify my skin up to my face and concluded that I had combination type skin! I was always confused about my skin because I felt that it got pretty oily in certain spots in the summer and then semi dry in some spots during the winter. It's good to know now that I have combo skin!

Frank Pepe Cheese And Spinach

After checking out all the stores, it got quite late. We spent a lot of time in Sephora, lush, and brookstone, so we went to pick up some dinner. We all chose to go to a pizza shop called Frank Pepe. This pizza shop is known for it's unique way of making the pizza. It's all hand made and they cook it by tossing it into a brick oven. The result of using this type of cooking method is a better testing pizza! I thought that the crust of this pizza was amazing. It was crispy and the flavors in the toppings tasted even better. The pizza we all agreed on getting was one topped with mozzarella , mushrooms, and spinach!

After dinner, it was time to head home! Looking back on it now, I really loved our trip to the casino. Going during the holidays made it even better because of all the decorations. It's now January 2014 and the holidays are over. It feels sad in a way, but I'm glad that it is a new year because that means new experiences and opportunities.
I personally don't make any New Year resolutions since I never follow through with them. I do sometimes make weekly/monthly goals for myself though and try to hit them. I find that this gives me more motivation and I actually try to work for them.  My current goal for my blog is to get all my picture organized. I have hundreds of videos/photos on my computer and it's time to upload them to shutterfly/youtube and delete them! I say every weekend I will do this, but it just never happens!

  36. Hey Mindy!

Happy New Year! Welcome back, glad you're back to blogging, I missed your posts!! I'm glad you had fun, I always love your photos. The casino was decorated beautifully. I *love* the holiday season because so many places have such intricate decorations. I'm sad it's over!! Your Sephora photos reminded me that I need to stop by there next time I'm at the mall because there are a few things I want to check out. I've been trying to save money and not buy things that I don't absolutely NEED, but it's so hard when I'm reading all of these beauty blogs and watching all of these YouTube videos about awesome products. I end up wanting to try them all! Lol. Anyway I can't wait to see your "What I Got For Christmas" post. Those kind of posts are always so interesting to me. :) Talk to you soon!!
