I was going to do an outfit post today, but something super exciting came in the mail this week that I MUST share with you guys. Last Monday, I placed an order in on amazon for my FIRST EVER DSLR camera! I was told by Amazon that the camera would come in this coming week (November 11-18), but on Thursday night, I received an email telling me that my camera would be here the next day! (November 8) How crazy is that! I was at school when the package came so my mom picked it up and when I finally got home, I jumped on opening it and checking it out!

Ever since my blog Anniversary, I have wanted to switch my point and shoot camera out for a DSLR. A dslr is so much more advanced than a point and shoot and the photos that come out are HQ. The camera would be prefect for my blog. I did my research on cameras and finally settled in on the Canon Rebel T3i with an 18-55 mm lens. The only thing preventing me from getting my camera was money.... The camera was nearly $600 and I did not have that kind of money available. I needed to save. After about 4 months, I finally was able to get enough money to buy my camera!
When I went to order the camera, I noticed that the original price that I saw it for $599 had dropped a bit to $569. I was like "ohhh this is good.. I get extra money after this!" I had a hard decision of waiting on getting the camera till Black Friday because I know Amazon has nice deals, but I just wasn't sure if my camera would be the one on sale.
What made me decide to get the camera now instead of waiting was a special promotion going on with this camera! The promotion was that you can extra accessories for your camera for no cost as long as you purchase a camera body. Along with my camera, I was able to get a slight discount of my lens, a monopod, a camera case, and a free 16 GB memory card!!
Here is the memory card that I received. I'm not the most technologically smart person so if it wasn't for this promotion, I would have forgotten to get myself a memory card! I was so excited to get a camera that I didn't even think about getting some necessary camera accessories!
The monopod is a very interesting item. At first, I thought it was a tripod till I saw the letter M. I was confused for a second since I have never heard of a monopod before. After using google images, I realized that a monopod is like a tripod except it has 1 leg instead of 3 and is used for keeping your hand steady. It seems pretty cool and I'm excited to test it!
A super yay for this case I received! I think this is really useful because I do plan on taking my new camera to places with me. (my trips to NY hehe) This case keeps my camera safe and makes transportation with it much easier. The case is really sturdy and the inside is soft. There are separate compartments for your camera and lenses. There is also space for you to put any important papers and a place to store your battery. It works with my camera perfectly!
And now onto the camera itself! The camera is the canon EOS rebel T3i. I've had my eyes on this camera for a while for many reasons. It is one of the cheaper cameras that still works very well. I know a lot of bloggers use this camera and the quality of their photos are really nice. Inside my kit, I got many items.
I got a few cards containing information on my camera, some software for my computer, an instruction manual (that I am still reading hehe), a battery + charger, a cord to connect it with my computer and a strap to attach to my camera!
Here is the camera itself!! It is pretty cool looking yet at the same time quite complicated. I have already tested the camera out and with the help of my sister, we took some sample pictures. It is a bit complicated to use with all the buttons, but I bet I will quickly be accustomed to it. So far, my favorite thing about this camera is it's auto focus and the screen. The auto focus works by itself and it is really cool to see it in action. The camera lens is the best thing ever because it can flip around to the front. That makes taking pictures easier because I would be able to see what I look like in the camera! (also good for selfies!) I just need to figure out how to upload the picture to the computer so I can share them with everyone!! I'm so excited right now!! I really love my new camera. It is worth every cent because I can tell that my photos are going to look so nice now!!
For those of you interested in this camera, I got it from amazon and I am pretty sure as of today, the same deal is still going on! =)
What is the most exciting thing you have received in the mail?
Do you shoot with a DSLR?
If so, do you have any tips for me? I am beyond excited to use mine!
