I did some studying up about dying Asian hair before hand since I know our hair is naturally darker and harder to color. I do have some gray hairs here and there, but gray is also hard to dye as well. Bleaching my hair was out of the question for me since I was terrified of the damage it would do. From what I read online and what I saw in the store, I went for a hair dye by Garnier. I chose to use the Nutrisse Ultra color for darker hair. The dye is in the color Ultra Intense Red and is specifically made for darker hair colors!
I followed the directions on the box exactly, but left the dye on my hair for slightly longer. I kept it in for 45 minutes just to be safe. The smell of the dye was actually quite pleasant compared to what I read online. I think the scent came from the little fruit oil that I put in at the end. And now for your enjoyment... here are some picture-
After the dye finished it's work, I washed it all out and applied the conditioner that came in the box.. Let me tell you, that conditioner was the BOMB!! I need to get me some of that stuff! haha. And here are the results-
My Tips To Dye Asian (Or dark) Hair-
wash your hair! Dirty hair keeps color in much better so step away from
the shampoo a few days before you want to dye your hair
- Pick a lighter color than you want your results to be. For example, if I chose blonde hair dye, my hair would not turn blonde, but a light brown instead.
- Keep the dye in for a bit longer than suggested. This is what I did and it seemed to work pretty well.
- Start with the bottom and work your way up when you are applying the dye so your roots don't end up super light.
- Keep your hair healthy!!! Healthy hair absorbs color better than brittle hair. After dying make sure to condition your hair regularly and use shampoo specified for color treated hair!
Good Luck To Everyone And I Hoped I Helped!!
